The Last Pages
She had spent much of her life making sure everyone else was okay.
Her pupils needed guidance.
Her teachers needed someone to lead them.
Her family needed her.
There were deadlines, problems, responsibilities, bills, worries—and somehow, she kept showing up.
There were days when she felt strong.
And there were days when she quietly wondered, “Kaya pa ba nako?”
But she always did.
Not because life was easy.
Because somewhere along the way, she learned that courage doesn't always look like fearlessness. Sometimes courage is waking up worried and still going to work. Sometimes it is caring for others while carrying your own burdens. Sometimes it is simply whispering, “Lord, tabangi ko,” and taking one more step.
She made mistakes.
She overthought things.
She worried about things she couldn't control.
She had moments when her heart felt heavier than she let anyone know.
But she also laughed.
She loved deeply.
She celebrated small victories.
She tried new things.
She dreamed of better days.
And even when she was afraid, she never completely stopped hoping.
And then, near the end of the book, there would be a quiet scene.
No awards.
No applause.
No crowd.
Just her, sitting peacefully, looking back at the life she once thought she wasn't strong enough to carry.
And she would realize something:
She didn't need to become someone else to have a beautiful life.
She had already been becoming herself all along.
The woman who survived difficult seasons.
The woman who kept choosing her family.
The woman who served others.
The woman who sometimes broke down—but always found a way to stand again.
She would smile.
Maybe with tears in her eyes.
And finally say:
“Dili diay kinahanglan nga perfect ang akong kinabuhi. Kinahanglan lang nga tinuod—ug puno sa gugma.”
Then she would close the book.
Not because her story was over.
But because the hardest chapters were finally behind her.
And on the very last page, there would be only one sentence:
“She spent so many years being strong for everyone else. In the end, she finally learned that she deserved to be cared for, too.” ❤️The Last Pages She had spent much of her life making sure everyone else was okay. Her pupils needed guidance.
